Love blushes, hearts rush: All the details on the special jewelry Travis Kelce picked up for Taylor Swift at the Kentucky Derby
When Travis Kelce flew to Paris to support Taylor Swift at her Eras Tour, he didn’t show up empty-handed.
While in Louisville for the Kentucky Derby earlier this month, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end picked up a special, sparkling souvenir for his lady love: a Derby Gold and Diamond Horseshoe Necklace ($1,495) from S. R. Blackinton, the family business that’s been making the Derby trophy for decades.
Company co-owners Susanne Blackinton-Juaire and her daughter, Skyla Fogarty, tell Page Six Style they gifted Kelce the limited-edition design — made from reclaimed 14-karat gold sourced from the production of this year’s Kentucky Derby trophy — to give Swift, who skipped the famous horse race to prepare for her tour.
Our family has been making the trophy since 1975 and we caught word he would be there and since it was a big year for the both of them, we wanted to gift a few very special pieces,” the duo says.
“He was super kind and appreciative!”
And seeing as Swift’s practically synonymous with Easter eggs, she surely appreciated the hidden message engraved on the bottom of the horseshoe: “Wishing you good luck.”
Studded with six round brilliant-cut diamonds, the necklace is part of of the brand’s 2024 Derby Gold Jewelry Collection, which also includes a matching lapel pin and several horseshoe-wishbone designs inspired by the pins traditionally given to jockeys before their races in early-1900s Europe.
“[It’s something my mother and I have dreamed of and have been working on for years,” Fogarty says of the collection, created entirely with the same gold used to make the Derby trophy.
Along with Swift’s necklace, Kelce also picked up a pair of sterling silver sippers topped with the horseshoe-wishbone motif — so the pair can hopefully kick back with a few mint juleps in between her concert dates.
